Recognising the impact of the O2 brand, business performance and commitment to corporate responsibility, Telefónica Europe plc and its operating businesses have been presented with a number of awards. The following represents a selection of the awards achieved over recent years.
Telefónica Europe plc
September 2007: Telefónica O2 Europe plc wins The Golden Peacock Award for excellence in CSR reporting. The Golden Peacock Awards recognise excellence in CSR reporting. They are based on a self-assessment tool aimed to accelerate an organisation’s improvement process. The preparation for the award in itself inspires and aligns the entire work force, builds morale and helps companies achieve superior performance.
May 2007: Telefónica O2 Europe’s online news service, news O2, wins an 'Award of excellence' within the 'Multilingual communication' category at the 2007 Communicators in Business Awards.
March 2007: O2’s intranet-based TV and video streaming service, intraview, wins ‘Gold’ at the International Visual Communications Awards. The 'International Visual Communications Awards' are recognised as marks of excellence for effective business communication in corporate video, interactive media projects, business television and websites.
December 2006: O2.com wins a silver iNOVA award for its O2 Corporate Responsibility report "Mobile Matters" in the category, online Annual Reports: Social Responsibility.
October 2006: Peter Erskine, Chairman and CEO, O2 plc was named 'Chief Executive of the Year for Marketing' at the 2006 Marketing Week Effectiveness Awards. O2 also picked up the 'Technology & Telecomms' prize.
November 2005: Peter Erskine, CEO O2 plc, wins the prestigious 'CSC Business Leader of the Year' Award.
October 2005: The O2 Pension Plan is voted 'Pension Scheme of the Year for 2005' by an independent panel of experts.
September 2005: Selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes World and Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Stoxx. O2 has been given a first placing in the wireless communications sector and a second placing in the telecommunications sector. This reflects O2's commitment to corporate and social responsibility.
June 2005: O2’s online news service, news O2, wins top award within the 'best writing for web category' at the 2005 Communicators in Business Awards.
14 April 2005: O2 plc becomes the first UK-based mobile operator to gain ISO 14001 environmental certification group-wide.
February 2005: O2 awarded for 'the most innovative Corporate responsibility report' for its 2004 report, by the ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
November 2004: Included in the Top 100 Global Sustainability Reporters list which is compiled every two years in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme, and has also been shortlisted in the ACCA UK Sustainability Reporting Awards.
October 2004: mmO2 winner of the 2004 Corporate Community Investment (CCI) Online Reporting Award designed to foster innovation, creativity and best practice in the reporting of corporate community involvement programmes on the Internet.
September 2004: Selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes World and Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Stoxx, this reflects mmO2's commitment to corporate and social responsibility.
